Aeroscout - New Payload: Radiation Detector

Over the years, a lot of different sensors where part of the customized payload pots of Aeroscout. This time, it was a radiation detector which makes it possible to find and map radioactive sources from the air. The main goal of this test flight campaign is to evaluate ideal mission parameters and to integrate this device into a multi-sensor payload.

A next milestone reached on the road to deliver tools and spare parts to offshore wind turbines: the drop test on a demonstrator platform. The flight was performed with an Aeroscout Scout B1-100 UAV Helicopter, operated under the new SORA based flight permission for EU countries. Thank to all ADD2WIND project members for the good work!
SORA permission for Scout B-330 UAV Helicopter

Aeroscout is proud of receiving a flight permission for the Scout B-330 UAV Helicopter in compliance with SORA (Specific Operations Risk Assessment). The EASA published the SORA as a standard for drone operations with aircrafts over 25kg takeoff mass. It is valid in the EU and will be adopted by FOCA (Federal office of civil aviation, Switzerland) on 1 January 2023.

The Aeroscout team is currently flying in La Selva, Costa Rica. The tropical forest area is about 2000m x 700m with an expected point density of 3000points/m^2.
