ADD2WIND flight test campaign

A next milestone reached on the road to deliver tools and spare parts to offshore wind turbines: the drop test on a demonstrator platform. The flight was performed with an Aeroscout Scout B1-100 UAV Helicopter, operated under the new SORA based flight permission for EU countries. Thank to all ADD2WIND project members for the good work!
SORA permission for Scout B-330 UAV Helicopter

Aeroscout is proud of receiving a flight permission for the Scout B-330 UAV Helicopter in compliance with SORA (Specific Operations Risk Assessment). The EASA published the SORA as a standard for drone operations with aircrafts over 25kg takeoff mass. It is valid in the EU and will be adopted by FOCA (Federal office of civil aviation, Switzerland) on 1 January 2023.

The Aeroscout team made use of some warm days in spring to go for a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) mission with the B-330 UAV and together with Gamma Remote Sensing AG. This time, it was a radiation detector which makes it possible to find and map radioactive sources from the air. The Aeroscout team is currently flying in La Selva, Costa Rica. The tropical forest area is about 2000m x 700m with an expected point density of 3000points/m^2. This takes about 8.5 flight hours to scan. The temperatures and the humidity are tropical! Though conditions for the team and the equipment.
